Weekly Media Release Dec. 31st 2018 – Jan. 6th 2019

On January 1st, while conducting mobile patrols the police noticed a commercial bus parked in the 200 block of King George Terrace. Police noticed a bag of empty liquor bottles near the bus and another bag containing liquor bottles. Police asked who the owner was and no one came forward to claim the liquor. The following items were seized:

  • 5 bottles of assorted beer
  • 5 cans of vodka soda Nutrl
  • 1 bottle of Malbec red wine

On January 1st, the Oak Bay Police responded to a New Years Eve party and the homeowner reported that someone threw a rock through the front window. The homeowner observed a male approximately 30 years old wearing dark clothing. Patrols were conducted in the area with negative results.

On January 1st, the police attended to a theft at the Oak Bay Recreation swimming pool family changing room. A parent was caring for their child who was on crutches and left a pair of brown Ugg boots and a black MEC mid length winter jacket on a bench in close proximity of them. The parent suspected an odd male who was in the vicinity and the information was passed on to the Recreation staff who might know this male and the information will be forwarded to the police to investigate.

On January 2nd, the Oak Bay Police attended UVIC for a theft of several Apple laptops and desktop computers. The Saanich Forensic Identification Section attended and processed several items within the building. The investigation is ongoing.
