Organizers of a presentation called “The Erosion of Freedom” held of an event at the Windsor Pavilion in Oak Bay on the evening of May 2, 2019. The District of Oak Bay approved the booking for the facility and commented publicly on that decision on April 30, 2019. Based on information acquired leading up to the event an operational plan was developed by the Oak Bay Police Department in concert with the District of Oak Bay to address any potential public safety concerns.
As the evening unfolded, it became clear that due to the significant number of people present and the manner they were addressing each other it would not be possible to ensure that continued public
safety be maintained.
The District of Oak Bay Protective Services personnel at the event felt compelled to ask the presenters to end the talk at approximately 8:00 pm and asked those in attendance to disperse.
All parties complied and vacated without incident.
