MEDIA RELEASE

Date:  September 9th, 2019

On Sunday, September 1st, a resident’s 2 year old cat returned home on Deal Street in Oak Bay. The cat appeared very ill. The owner took the cat to the vet and it was discovered that it had been shot with, what is believed to be, a pellet gun.  Sadly, the cat had to be put down.

Animal Control was contacted and there had been no similar incidents.

The cat was an indoor/outdoor cat.

Extensive neighbourhood enquiries have been conducted but, at this stage, we have no new information.

“We believe someone knows who did this and we encourage them to call us or to call Crime Stoppers.”

“We don’t know the motive but we’re aware that, at times, some residents can be unhappy about cats being in their yard so that is certainly one possibility, among others.”

“At this time, we have no suspects.”
