Weekly Media Release Apr. 22 – Apr. 28, 2019

On April 22nd, shortly after 1:15 AM, police were called to a single vehicle collision at Cedar Hill Cross Road and Cadboro Bay Road. On arrival, police found the vehicle had run over the median and the driver appeared under the influence of alcohol. After a breath demand, two samples were provided, both of which resulted in a “Fail” reading. The driver was issued a 90 day driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

On April 22nd, police were called to an apartment block in the 2000 block of Oak Bay Ave for a report of a found mobility scooter that was left in a parking stall. Further investigation showed the scooter had been reported stolen from the 1400 block of Newport Ave earlier in the day.

On April 23rd, police received a report of Theft From Vehicle that occurred in the parking lot at Cattle Point. The complainant left her purse in the vehicle and with the window ajar, the culprit(s) gained access and took the purse.

On April 23rd, police were called to the University of Victoria for a Break and Enter to one of their buildings. Sometime over the long weekend, culprit(s) gained access to the building and stole a number of computers. A Forensic Identification member attended and conducted an examination of the scene. The matter in still under investigation.

On April 26th, police received a report of a Theft From Vehicle that occurred that day while the vehicle was parked in the 1900 block of Bee Street. The complainant had left his wallet hidden in the car. The culprit(s) gained access to the vehicle and took the wallet.

On April 28th, police received a report of Theft of dinghy and ten new life jackets. This theft occurred in the 1400 block of Beach drive.
