Weekly Media Release Feb 26 – March 4, 2018

On February 27th, police were called to UVIC for a report of theft of instruments from the music building. Two saxophones had been stolen out of lockers there. The instruments were recovered by Victoria Police the following day and returned to their owners.

On February 28th, police responded to the high school where someone had pulled the fire alarm. Oak Bay Fire Department advised this is the second such event in as many days. The matter is under investigation.

On March 2nd, police were called to a church on Haultain for an intoxicated male refusing to leave. Members attended and determined the male was too intoxicated to care for himself. He was arrested and lodged in cells until sober.

On March 2nd, police were called to an area between the high school and a business, where a male was exposed and acting inappropriately. Members attended and determined the male was under the influence of crystal meth. He was transported to a support agency.

On March 3rd, police stopped a vehicle on Beach Drive near Beresford. The officer could smell liquor on the driver’s breath. The driver provided two breath samples that registered a FAIL. An open can of liquor was found in the vehicle. The driver is now prohibited from driving for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
