Weekly Media Release Jan. 1-7, 2018

January 1st, 2018

 Between December 31st at 10pm and January 1st at 9am an unknown person(s) vandalized property by writing graffiti on a vehicle and residence in the 2400 block area of Dunlevy St in Oak Bay, BC. Anyone with information that might identify those responsible are asked to contact the Oak Bay Police Department. File 2018-6 refers.

January 2nd, 2018

At approximately 3pm a road rage incident occurred at the intersection of Cranmore Rd and Hampshire Rd in Oak Bay, BC. The male driver of a yellow sports car took exception to the complainant not coming to a complete stop at the intersection. He followed the complainants vehicle to a business on Oak Bay Ave where he yelled and swore at her before eventually departing. The driver of the yellow sports car is described as a male in his late 50’s or early 60’s. Anyone with information that might identify this vehicle or the driver is asked to contact the Oak Bay Police Department. File 2018-36 refers.

“If you encounter a driver who is trying to engage you in conflict, please drive to the nearest Police Station. Please don’t get out of your car and please don’t engage in the conflict.”

“For drivers who may be upset about seeing someone roll a stop sign, they should simply report the driver to the police with the time, location, licence, plate, etc. It is not acceptable to attempt to enforce the law themselves or intimidate other drivers.”
