On January 15th 2019, Oak Bay Police received a complaint that a rudder handle along with its hinges was stolen from a sail boat at the Oak Bay Marina. The resident advised that the theft possibly occurred overnight and it appears the suspect targeted specific parts. At this time no suspects have been identified in this theft.
On January 15th, 2019, Oak Bay Fire and Oak Bay Police responded to a structural fire in the 3000 block of Larkdowne Road. No one was home at the time but two dogs were rescued safely from the residence. Oak Bay Fire Department’s investigation is still ongoing.
On January 16th 2019, Oak Bay Police received a complaint of a two vehicle collision in the 3000 block of Foul Bay Road. A sedan was backing out of a driveway and hit a transit bus. No injuries reported and the driver of the sedan was issued a Violation Ticket for reversing when unsafe.
(Previously reported) On January 17th, 2019 Oak Bay Police along with Saanich Police responded to the area Foul Bay Road and Townley Street in Oak Bay BC for a possible impaired driver. The vehicle had been observed running stop signs and did not have it’s headlights on. The vehicle was later located but the driver drove away at a high rate of speed, almost hitting parked vehicles. The driver then ditched the vehicle in Carnarvan Park baseball field before fleeing on foot. Saanich K9 unit was able to track the driver to a nearby residence. Charges of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle are being recommended.
On January 19th 2019, Police received a complaint that a vehicle had been entered sometime overnight in the 3000 block of Gibbs Road. Loose change was taken and Police recommend to keep valuables out of sight and vehicles locked.
On January 19th 2019, Police received a complaint of a Break and Enter to a residence in the 2600 block of Foul Bay Road. The suspect broke a window while the owners were away and stole some small electronics. The investigation is still on going.
