Weekly Media Release July 29 – August 4, 2019

The Oak Bay Police have responded to 88 calls for service this week. Of note:

On July 31st 2019, Oak Bay Police conducted a stop check in the 3700 block of Cadboro Bay Road. One driver was found to be impaired by alcohol and issued a 90 day driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days. Police are reminding the public to plan a safe ride home if you are going out for a celebration.

On August 1st 2019, Oak Bay Police received a complaint from a theft from a construction site in the 2500 block of Margate Avenue. Two Makita batteries were stolen. No suspects have been identified at this time

Police received two calls regarding mischief to property. On July 30t, police received a report of mischief to a building in the 2000 block of Cadboro Bay road. Spray paint had been used to write letters onto a wall.

On August 2nd, 2019, Police received a complaint that a vehicle window had been smashed in the 2200 block of Florence Street in Oak. The registered owner heard a loud noise at about one o’clock in the morning but did not notice the smashed window till the morning.  No suspects have been identified.

On August 2nd 2019, Oak Bay Police received a theft of teak lounge chairs from a residence located 2400 block of San Carlos Avenue. The suspect used his vehicle to take the chairs. Police are reminding residents to call if they see anything suspicious.

On August 4th 2019, Oak Bay Police received a theft from vehicle in the 500 block of Victoria Avenue. The vehicle was unlocked and Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles.
