Weekly Media Release July 30 to August 6, 2018

Oak Bay Police responded to 122 calls for service last week.

There have been several thefts from unlocked vehicles again this week. Police are reminding the public to ensure your vehicle is locked and any items of suggested value be placed out of site.  During foot patrols on one nightshift last week, we came across approximately 40 unlocked vehicles.

Oak Bay Police have had many lost cell phones turned in by the public. The vast majority are password protected, thereby making ownership difficult to ascertain. One suggestion is for the owner to place a secondary contact number on the password screen (check manual for instructions) or a decal on the back of the phone. This will allow police to determine ownership quickly and return the phone.

There were 2 separate impaired investigations resulting in the drivers being issued 90-Day driving prohibitions and their vehicles impounded for 30 days.
