Weekly Media Release Mar. 15 – Mar. 21, 2021

On March 17th a traffic stop at 0835 hrs in the morning on Cadboro Bay Rd resulted in the 36 year-old male driver being arrested for an outstanding warrant as well as being found driving while prohibited. The vehicle was impounded for seven days and the driver was charged with Driving While Prohibited. (file 2021-717)

On March 17th Oak Bay Police received a report of a break and enter and theft that occurred in a parking lot at 3100 Foul Bay Rd between the evening of March 14th to the morning of March 15th. A mobile movie work truck was accessed at the Camosun College parking lot during that time. Hairdressing equipment as well as an electronic device was stolen. File is still under investigation. On March 17th at 9:00 p.m. Oak bay Police received a report of an erratic driver in a White Nissan Versa in the 1900 block of Bee Street. Police found the vehicle parked a meter from the curb. The seventy five year old female driver was located in the driver’s seat. An impaired driving investigation was conducted. The driver was charged with impaired operation of a conveyance and refusing to provide a breath sample. She was issued a 90-day Administrative Driving Prohibition and her vehicle was impounded. March 18th: Morning report of a mischief overnight at Gartside Marine Engines. An unknown person smashed out the window pane in the garage door resulting in approximately $500 worth of damage. (2021-729)

On March 18th at 7:46 p.m. a traffic stop was conducted in the 3300 block of University Woods as a vehicle had a license plate on it that belonged to another vehicle. The forty seven year old male driver of the vehicle was issued multiple violation tickets including no insurance, no vehicle license and wrong number plate, and no front plate. (file 2021-742)

March 20th: Oak Bay Police, Fire, and paramedics responded to the 2300 block of Bowker Ave for a single motor vehicle accident where a small grey Toyota car ended up in the yard and against the side of the house. There were no injuries as a result of the accident. The sole occupant of the vehicle, a fifty five year-old male driver, had no signs of impairment. It is believed that the accident occurred as a result of a medical issue for the driver. The house sustained some damage to its exterior. There were two people inside the home at the time of the incident and neither were injured. (2021-764)
