Weekly Media Release May 14-20, 2018

On May 17th, 2018 at 4:03 am, the Oak Bay Police received a complaint of a break and enter in progress to a local business located in the 2100 Oak Bay Ave, Oak Bay. Police attended the scene and observed that the side window to the front door was smashed and that there was a glass and coins on the floor.

Police located a male and female nearby on Foul Bay Road at Oak Bay Avenue who were responsible for this crime. Cash and electronic equipment were recovered and subsequently returned to the owner. Charges of Break and Enter, Possession of Stolen Property and Possession of Burglary Tools were forwarded in relation to this investigation.

On May 17th, at 11:25 pm, the Oak Bay Police attended at Beach Drive and Ripon Road in Oak Bay, in regard to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision that resulted in several occupants suffering injuries as well damage being incurred to city property including the intersection street sign, fire hydrant and stop sign.  Investigation still continuing. Luckily, all occupants were wearing restraints or the resulting injuries would have likely been more significant.

On May 20th, at 7:15 pm, a vehicle with two illegally attached plates was observed abandoned, parked on the Esplanade, in Oak Bay.  It was found to contain a quantity of illicit drugs and was seized accordingly.  Investigation continuing.
