Weekly Media Release Sept. 2 – Sept. 8, 2019

2019-Sept-03 an Oak Bay member was making routine patrols when he observed a vehicle speeding and swerving in Saanich, just outside Oak Bay.  A vehicle stop was conducted and it was determined that the driver had too much to drink.  A 90-day driving suspension and a 30-day impound was issued. 

2019-Sept-03 the Oak Bay Police received a theft from auto report for the 300 block of Foul Bay Rd.  The UNLOCKED vehicle had been entered into overnight.  Vehicle rummaged through and some coins stolen.

2019-Sept-03 the Oak Bay Police responded to a report of a hit and run.  Complainant stated that another vehicle reversed into his vehicle and drove away.  Oak Bay Police want to remind drivers that you must stop and provide your information if your vehicle makes contact with another vehicle, occupied or not.

2019-Sept-04 the Oak Bay Police received a theft from auto report for the 2800 block of Eastdowne Road.  The UNLOCKED vehicle had been entered into overnight.  Vehicle rummaged through and some items stolen.

2019-Sept-04 the Oak Bay Police received a report of a stolen wallet from the Henderson Recreation Center.  The wallet had been placed on the bench while the complainant changed.  Oak Bay Police want to remind the community to ensure you keep your valuable possessions locked up or in your view at all times. 

2019-Sept-05 the Oak Bay Police received a report of a stolen bike in the 2500 blk of Dunlevy St.  The complainant reported that her bicycle had been stolen from her detached garage.  The complainant reported that her garage was locked and there was no forced entry.  Unknown how the suspect entered the garage.  Bicycle was a 2012 black 18 speed Specialized.

2019-09-06 the Oak Bay Police received a report of a theft from boat while onshore in the back parking lot of the Royal Victoria Yacht Club.  The secured hatch to the cabin had been forced open and some items stolen.  Surveillance footage obtained.  If you have any information on this theft please contact he Oak Bay Police Department. 2019-3439.

2019-09-06 the Oak Bay Police received a report of a suspicious occurrence in the 2400 block of Epworth St.  At approximately 10:00 pm the complainant heard a noise and she turned on her front porch light and went to the door.  The complainant advised that she saw a female running down the stairs and away from the house. 

2019-Sept-07 the Oak Bay Police received a theft from auto report for the 1500 block of Clive Dr.  The UNLOCKED vehicle had been entered overnight and the vehicle rummaged through.   Items stolen.

2019-09-07 Oak Bay Police received a report of a hit and run.  The complainant reported that a vehicle hit a barricade that had been in place for a block party causing the barricade to propel into a parked car.  The vehicle never stopped.
