The Oak Bay Police Department has a long and rich history of community policing. It is something we take great pride in. Our focus and commitment to close connections with our local community make us unique in the level of service we provide.

We are committed to evolving our services and training to meet the needs of the changes we see in our community. Our plan mandates that all our officers receive training in trauma informed practices, cultural awareness, and fair and impartial policing. We will continue to provide public education on traffic safety, fraud prevention, and relationship safety.

Policing is a challenging profession, and we emphasize employee wellness and resilience to ensure that we are at our best in serving the community. We are proud to be policing one of the safest communities in Canada and will continue exploring innovative ways to ensure that we can provide a high level of community-based service while leveraging opportunities to partner with specialized policing units. This community-focused structure ensures Oak Bay residents receive high-level professional investigative services when serious crimes occur.

Effective policing is built on community trust. We are committed to continue to build on the high level of support we receive from the citizens of Oak Bay.
