The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 51 calls for service this week.
Collision
On October 15th, the Oak Bay Police responded to a motor vehicle collision in the 2000 blk of Milton Street. A neighbor witnessed a vehicle hit a parked vehicle. The driver that was responsible for the collision stayed at the scene and exchanged contact information with the other vehicle’s owner. The 21-year-old male driver did not have valid insurance on his vehicle and the driver was issued a ticket for No Insurance pursuant to section 24(3)(b) of the Motor Vehicle Act, which has a prescribed fine of $598.00. Damage was minimal to both vehicles. (OB File 24-2861)
Theft of Bicycle
On October 16th, the Oak Bay Police Department received a report of a stolen bicycle from Oak Bay High School. The student locked their bicycle at the back of the school on October 11th and returned to retrieve their bicycle and noticed the lock and his $450.00 bright orange 24-speed Kona Blast was stolen. Mischief
During the night on October 20, 2024, eight vehicles in the 1200 blk of Monterey and 1500-1600 blk ‘Keyed’ causing significant damage to these vehicles. Investigators are canvassing for CCTV and eyewitnesses in the area. It appears that a lone suspect is responsible for this incident, however, investigators don’t currently have a clear description of the suspect. The matter is still under investigation.
