The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 60 calls for service this week.
Immediate Roadside Prohibition
On December 17th, 2024, at approximately 1:00 pm, an Oak Bay Police officer was in the 1300 block of Beach Drive conducting patrols. A vehicle was observed which appeared to have damaged rear taillights and a traffic stop ensued. The driver admitted to having consumed beer at lunch. After administering the Approved Screening Device, which resulted in a “Fail” reading, indicating the driver had a blood alcohol level of 100 milligrams of alcohol of blood or more. The driver was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Driving Prohibition. The vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days (OB file 24-3540).
Immediate Roadside Prohibition
On December 19th, 2024, Oak Bay Police officers conducted five hours of ICBC funded CounterAttack roadblocks in Oak Bay. At approximately 10:15 pm at a check point on Foul Bay Road, a driver was believed to be under the influence of alcohol while operating a motor vehicle. The Oak Bay Police officer administered an Approved Screening Device, and the results were a “warn”, indicating a blood alcohol level of 60-99 milligrams of alcohol of blood or more. The driver was issued a 3 Day Immediate Roadside Prohibition. The vehicle was towed and impounded for 3 days (OB File 24-3566).
