January 3, 2023, at 9:00pm, an Oak Bay Police Department officer was conducting traffic enforcement along the 800 block of Beach Drive. As they conducted enforcement a Ford Mustang was observed travelling over 100km/h in a 40km/h zone. The vehicle was stopped, and the 31-year-old male driver of the vehicle was issued a Violation Ticket for Excessive Speed under S.148(1) for $368 dollars and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. January 4, 2023, at approximately 8:50 pm, an Oak Bay Police Department officer was conducting mobile patrol on Mackenzie Ave north of the University of Victoria. The officer observed a vehicle travelling westbound at a high rate of speed. The officer observed that the radar showed the vehicle was travelling at 93 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. The Officer pulled the vehicle over and while speaking to the male driver detected a smell of alcohol on his breath. A roadside breath demand resulted in the 42-year-old male given a 3-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition licence suspension, had his vehicle impounded and was issued $368 dollars in fines for Excessive speed under S 148(1). January 5, 2023, the Oak Bay Police Department attended a residential break and enter at a garage in the 2000 block of Kings Rd. The complainant reported an unknown suspect entered their garage and stole several tools. The suspect stole a Dewalt drill, bits and other associated items totaling approximately $400.00 dollars in value. The complainant later reported that a men’s mountain bike and helmet was also missing. The value was estimated at $1,500.00. While the officer was conducting their investigation, the complainant was contacted by Victoria Police Department to report that they had located their property in Victoria.
