On December 23rd at 2:23 PM, police responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Hampshire Road and McNeill Avenue. A vehicle southbound on Hampshire Road failed to stop for the stop sign at McNeill Avenue, colliding with an eastbound vehicle. The 47 year old female driver of the eastbound vehicle had to be extracted using the jaws of life. She was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and later released. The 79 year old male driver of the southbound vehicle was issued with a violation ticket for Fail to Stop At Stop Sign.
On December 24th at 8:30 AM, police received a report of a theft from motor vehicle. The cuprit(s) smashed the passenger side window of the vehicle parked in the 2200 block of Oak Bay Avenue and removed two backpacks from inside. The backpacks contained an Apple Macbook Pro and an Apple iPad Mini as well as a stethoscope. The value of these items is well over $1000.
On December 24th at 9:35 AM, police stopped a westbound vehicle on Oak Bay Avenue for failing to stop for a yellow light. The 29 year old male driver was flagged by ICBC to be served a two month driving prohibition. The driver was issued a violation ticket for the traffic light infraction and the two month driving prohibition effective after he drove his vehicle home.
On December 24th, police received a report of a stolen bicycle from the 2400 block of Eastdowne Road, The owner had left the bike unlocked while she went into the store, and upon leaving, discovered it had been taken. The bicycle was later turned into police, minus the front wheel. It was returned to its owner.
On December 27th at 12:13 PM, police received a report of a possible impaired driver on Cadboro Bay Road near Upland Road. The vehicle was located and stopped by police in the 1600 block of Richmond Road. While the 47 year old male driver was not impaired, he was prohibited from driving. His vehicle was seized for seven days and he was issued a provincial appearance notice to attend court at a later date.
