Weekly Media Release: December 10-17, 2012

During the past week the police department responded to 105 calls for service.

On December 11 a patron at Oak Bay Recreation centre left his backpack containing his automobile keys in a cubby in the fitness area.  After realizing his backpack had been stolen he discovered his vehicle missing as well.  On December 12 two adult males were discovered parked in the vehicle by Westshore RCMP.  Charges are pending for possession of stolen property.

Overnight December 11/12 five vehicles were entered in the north side of the municipality.  Overnight an additional six vehicles were entered in the same area.  Police have increased vehicle, foot and bicycle patrols.  Residents are again asked to insure their vehicles are locked and nothing of value is left inside their vehicles.  If the thieves have success they will return.

Police continue to conduct counter attack roadblocks over the holiday season.  This last week three drivers had their licences suspended.
