On Tuesday, September 21st, the Oak Bay Police received a theft complaint from the 1200 block of Hampshire Road. The homeowner’s motor described as a black Mercury 2.5 hp with white lettering was stolen from a rigid inflatable boat (RIB). The RIB was parked in the driveway and there was no CCTV available in the area. The boat motor was valued at approximately $1,200.00.

On Tuesday, September 21st, the Oak Bay Police attended a two vehicle MVI at Transit Road and Newport Avenue. A 68-year-old female driver who was driving a blue 2010 Mercedes conducted an illegal U-turn and struck the right side of a white 2016 Mercedes Sprinter. The Sprinter was travelling southbound on Newport Avenue when the vehicles collided, the damage was estimated in excess of $15000.00. The elderly driver was issued a violation ticket for the illegal U-turn and both drivers were transported to the hospital as a precautionary measure as they were complaining of shoulder and neck pain. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

On Saturday, September 25th, the Oak Bay Police received a report of a single motorcycle collision into a hedge in the 400 block of King George Terrace. A witness believed the 29-year-old male rider was intoxicated and was mumbling about finding his keys and seemed incoherent. Information was received that the rider was picked up at the scene by a taxicab and was driven to his residence in the James Bay area. A patrol member attended the registered owners address approximately 23 minutes after the incident was reported and a male answered the door. The uninjured male admitted he was riding the motorcycle and showed signs of liquor impairment. The male was arrested for impaired driving, he was transported to the police station where he provided two suitable samples of his breath into an approved screening device. The accused was released on documents to attend court at a later date.
