On March 22^nd, at approximately 10:50 pm police stopped a vehicle for speeding on Cadboro Bay Road near Cotswold. The 22 year old female driver was found to have consumed alcohol. Two breath samples were provided, both registering a “Fail”. She was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition, a violation ticket for speeding, and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

On March 26^th, Oak Bay PD’s Deputy Chief Kent Thom received an email, purportedly from the “Canada Revenue Agency”, attempting to solicit personal information to be eligible for a special tax refund. This is a well-known scam designed to fraudulently obtain personal and confidential information from the recipient. Revenue Canada is well aware of the scam. People are reminded not to give out personal information over the phone or internet.

On March 29^th, at approximately 2:35 pm police happened upon a single vehicle rollover in the 1500 block of Monterey Ave. The female driver was southbound on Monterey when she apparently swerved to avoid an on-coming vehicle. Her vehicle struck a parked car, which caused her vehicle to flip upside down. The driver was suspended by her seatbelt until safely extracted by Oak Bay Fire Department members. The driver was taken to hospital and released without injury.

On March 29^th, at approximately 9:40 pm police responded to a report of youths jumping on a car behind Oak Bay High School. On police arrival, 8-10 male youths ran from the area.  Scene investigation showed footwear impressions on the car and the rear window had been smashed out with a rock. Three of the youths were stopped by police a short distance away and a quantity of marihuana was seized. Insufficient evidence to lay criminal charges at this time. The parents of the youths and the school have been notified.

On March 30^th, at approximately 3:15 am police observed a male, wearing nothing but a backpack, walking on Henderson Road near Allenby. The male ran from police but was soon located, hiding behind a tree, putting his clothes on. The embarrassed 19 year old male had no rational explanation for being naked but apologized for his actions and was allowed to proceed with a warning.
