Weekly Media Release June 21 – June 28, 2020

On June 25, 2020, an Oak Bay Police member was conducting traffic enforcement in the 400 block of Beach Drive when they observed a vehicle speeding. The officer detected an odour of alcohol coming from the driver’s breath. Subsequently, the driver was issued a 3 day driving prohibition and a speeding ticket. 2020-1940.

On June 26, 2020, an Oak Bay Police member was on patrol in the 2900 block of Beach Drive when they observed a vehicle travelling southbound on Beach Drive. The officer conducted a traffic stop in the parking lot of the Oak Bay Marina. The officer detected an odour of alcohol coming from the driver’s breath. Subsequently, the driver was issued a 90 day driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded. 2020-1950.

On June 26, 2020, Oak Bay Police were dispatched to the 2600 Block of Estevan Ave. for a report of a package stolen from a porch. Unfortunately, there was no suspect information to investigate. 2020-1960

  •  Arrange to either be at home or have a friend or neighbour pick it up.
  •  When ordering online, enter instructions to place packages in a more discreet area, such as a side door.

On June 26, 2020, an Oak Bay Police member was approached by a citizen who reported a possible impaired driver on Foul Bay Rd. The citizen reported that the vehicle was swerving all over the road, striking the curb and going into oncoming lanes. The vehicle was located at Elgin Rd. and Oak Bay Ave. parked, but still running. The officer observed a female slumped forward in the driver seat. File is still under investigation and charges will be forwarded to Crown Counsel. 2020-1962

On June 26, 2020, An Oak Bay Police member was flagged down by a citizen to report youth spray painting graffiti on the sea wall near the 1400 Block of Beach Drive. Police located two young people at the scene. Parents were called and attended. Alternative measures were taken, and youths were not charged. The graffiti was cleaned up. 2020-1963
