BC Law Enforcement Memorial Service

On Sunday, September 27, 2015 at 1:00 pm the British Columbia Law Enforcement Memorial Service, hosted by the Oak Bay Police Department and BC Corrections, will take place at the British Columbia Legislature grounds.

The British Columbia Law Enforcement Memorial Service coincides with the National Police & Peace Officers’ Memorial held in Ottawa on the last Sunday in September. The BC Law Enforcement Memorial Service rotates annually between the site of “The Bastion” on the grounds of the BC Legislature in Victoria and a location in the Lower Mainland.

The Bastion, a Provincial Monument dedicated to those officers who lost their lives in active service to the citizens of British Columbia, was unveiled on September 26, 2004. The original Honour Roll and Bastion contained 96 names in 2004, as of 2014 there are now 117 names inscribed on the panels.

The BC Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation was created in 2003 with the purpose of the Foundation to create a Provincial Monument dedicated to those officers who lost their lives in active service to the citizens of British Columbia.

Hundreds of officers from Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland will be in attendance to honour their fallen colleagues.
