On September 14th a victim called police to report he lent his car to a person he just met. The suspect never returned and the vehicle was later recovered in Victoria. No charges to be pursued by the victim.
On September 15th a speeding vehicle was stopped on Henderson Road. An odour of liquor was noted on the driver’s breath. A subsequent roadside screening device test was conducted and the driver was issued a 3-Day IRP and the vehicle was impounded.
On September 20th in the early morning hours, a vehicle was stopped for speeding. An odour of liquor was noted from the driver’s breath. A subsequent roadside screening test was conducted. The driver who has a Class 7 Novice license was in contravention of his “no alcohol” restrictions and was issued a 12 hour driving suspension.
On September 20th police attended the former Oak Bay High School that is currently an active construction site (process of being torn down) at the request of BC Ambulance. 2 males had broken into the school earlier and were stealing metal and other items. One male stepped through an open portion of the floor and fell approximately 14 feet. The male suffered severe fractures to his pelvis/vertebrae and was transported to hospital. Both males well known to police for this type of criminal behaviour and were charged with Break & Enter with Intent.
On September 20th Oak Bay & Saanich police responded to Ring Rd at UVIC after a young female was approached by a male who follow her on foot attempting to make conversation. His actions were suspicious in nature and the female grew concerned for her safety. The male then left and got into his van. He returned and attempted to persuade the female to accept a ride. The female left the scene and called police. No license plate was obtained and police were unable to locate the vehicle which was described as an older model Chev Astro type van, dark green in colour. The male was described as 30-34 years, short curly dark hair, facial stubble, dark hoody with tan shirt and dark pants. Police are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying this male.
