Oak Bay Police File: 2021-3460

On November 5, 2021 at 3:04 pm the Oak Bay Police Department received a report that a male had just tried to lure a 12 yr old student into his vehicle in South Oak Bay. Police obtained a statement from the student and received the following information. The student was walking Westbound on the North sidewalk along Central Ave, just West of Hampshire Rd, shortly after 2:50 pm, when a vehicle drove up next to her and followed her for a short distance. The male spoke to the student offering her candy and a ride home. The student did not respond to the male and ran back to her school to get help. Police conducted extensive patrols for the vehicle, but the vehicle was not located.

The vehicle is described as a “vintage” dark shiny green car with an off-white fabric top that was up. The license plate is unknown. The male was described as olive skinned, spikey grey/brown hair, oval face, 50-60 yrs. of age, tattoos below the neck and down both arms to the hands. He was wearing a dark green or black short sleeve shirt and black jeans with a wide belt. The male had a chunky gold ring on his right hand.

The student was not hurt during this incident. The Oak Bay Police Department is conducting neighborhood inquiries for CCTV and continuing its investigation into this matter. The Oak Bay Police Department is asking for residents in South Oak Bay to check their home surveillance footage for any vehicle or male that matches the above descriptions. Police are also asking for anyone who has a dashcam or car cameras to check their footage for the vehicle/male described above.
