Weekly Media Release for Nov. 1 – Nov. 7, 2021

On Tuesday, November 2nd, a patrol member observed a vehicle with an expired decal in the 2600 block of Foul Bay Road. A traffic stop was initiated, police records confirmed the vehicle’s insurance was expired in August of 2021.
The 18-year-old male driver was issued at ticket for “No Insurance” (fine: $598.00) and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

On Friday, November 5th, the Oak Bay Police Department received a report that a male had tried to lure a 12-year-old student into his vehicle in south Oak Bay. The male spoke to the student offering her candy and a ride home. The student did not respond to the male and ran back to her school to get help. Police conducted extensive patrols for the vehicle, however the vehicle was not located.
The vehicle is described as a “vintage” dark shiny green car with an off-white fabric top that was up. The licence plate was not obtained. The male driver was described as olive skinned, spikey grey/brown hair, oval face, 50-60 years old, tattoos below the neck and down both arms to the hands. The male was wearing a dark green or black short sleeve shirt and black jeans with a wide belt. The male also had a chunky gold ring on his right hand. The student was not hurt during this incident. The Oak Bay Police Department are conducting neighborhood inquiries for CCTV and continuing its investigation into this matter (previously reported in news release).
