On March 2, an Oak Bay Police member was conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Cadboro Bay Rd near Lansdowne Rd when a pickup truck was observed revving it’s engine and drifting in it’s lane travelling Northbound on Cadboro Bay Rd. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was given a ticket for Drive Without Consideration and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. (OB File 22-613)
On March 3, Oak Bay Police responded to a Break and Enter in the 2000 Block of Oak Bay Ave. The suspect(s) entered the business and stole a number of items including laptops and merchandise that was embossed with the company name and logo. Some items were recovered a short distance away. This investigation is ongoing. (OB File 22-623)
On March 3, the Oak Bay Police received a report of a residential Break and Enter in the 3000 Block of Cadboro Bay Rd. The complainant returned to find their residence broken into through a basement window. The suspect(s) targeted several areas of the residence and made off with jewelry and other personal items. This investigation is ongoing. (OB File 22-632)
On March 3, an Oak Bay Police member was conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Fort St and Foul Bay Rd. The member observed a vehicle with inactive insurance and conducted a traffic stop. During the course of the investigation, the officer determined that the 57 year old male driver had consumed alcohol. A sobriety check was conducted, and the driver was subsequently issued a 24 hour driving prohibition. The vehicle was impounded 24 hours. (OB File 22-635)
On March 4, an Oak Bay member was conducting traffic speed enforcement in the area of Cedar Hill Cross Rd and Crestview Rd. Police stopped a vehicle for speeding . During the course of the traffic stop, the officer determined that the driver was impaired by alcohol. The 25 year old male driver was subsequently given a 90 driving prohibition, a 30 day vehicle impoundment and a violation ticket for speeding. (OB File 22-648)
On March 5, an Oak Bay member was conducting traffic enforcement in the area of Townley St and Foul Bay Rd. The member observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped for travelling at 95 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. The 20 year old male driver was subsequently given a violation ticket for excessive speed and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. (OB File 22-650)
