The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 110 calls for service this week.

Mischief to Vehicles/Theft from Vehicles

On October 27th a mischief and theft from auto occurred overnight in the rear parking lot of a building in the 2000 block of Oak Bay Ave. The driver’s side rear door window was smashed, and a pair of binoculars were stolen. (File 25-3029)

On October 28th a vehicle was located, in the 2000 block of Brighton Ave with its rear passenger side window smashed. Nothing appeared to have been taken from the vehicle. (File 25-3047)

On October 29th it was reported that two vehicles in the 2000 block of Oak Bay Ave had been located with smashed rear windows. A duffel bag with boxing gloves and gym equipment were stolen from one of the vehicles. (Files 25-3057 and 25-3065)

On November 2nd a vehicle in the 2000 block of Chaucer St had its passenger side window smashed overnight. The vehicle was rummaged through but nothing of value was stolen. (File 25-3123)

There are no suspects identified in these incidents.

To help prevent thefts from vehicles, the Oak Bay Police Department reminds residents not to leave any valuables or personal items visible inside parked vehicles. Even small articles can attract opportunistic thieves. Please ensure your vehicle is locked and all belongings are removed or hidden from view before leaving your vehicle unattended. Taking these simple precautions can significantly reduce the risk of property crime in our community.

Male Intoxicated in a Public Place

On October 31st at approximately 1922 hrs. the Oak Bay Police Department received numerous calls regarding an intoxicated male who was banging on cars, shouting obscenities, and attempting to fight with pedestrians. The male was located and arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and was transported to cells where he remained until he was sober. (File 25-3105)

Bike Theft

On November 2nd a bike owner reported his $2000 black Aostirmotor bike stolen from the 1700 block of Elgin Rd. The bike had been left outside overnight. The bike had a black Raleigh bag on the rear and a significant slash on the left handle. (File 25-3127)

Wanted Man Located (update)

On November 2nd Oak Bay Police members investigated a file that resulted in locating and arresting Antony ABREU RAMIREZ who was wanted for Assault and for a warrant under s. 55(2) of the Immigration Act. ABREU RAMIREZ appeared before a judge for the Assault charge and remains in custody. (File 2025-3132)

Community Event – Trick or Treat on the Avenue

The Oak Bay Police Department Senior Management Team and members were thrilled to participate, and hand out candies to all the trick or treaters at the Halloween Trick or Treat on the Avenue event. They enjoyed seeing all the kids in their wonderful Halloween costumes.
