Oak Bay Fraudster Pleads Guilty

In the early days of April, 2012, a male attended at a residence located on Eastdowne Road, In Oak Bay, and, offered to do driveway sealing for an elderly home owner. He then collected $1220.00 dollars in funds from her for services to be rendered at a later date.  He never performed the services promised on the property, or ever responded to any attempts to contact him by the police or victim.
A subsequent joint investigation by the Oak Bay Police, the Saanich Police Department and the Central Saanich Police Department determined that the male was responsible for a series of similar frauds across the Greater Victoria area.
Kevin Thomas GORDON of Victoria was identified as the perpetrator of these frauds and was arrested on July 16th, 2012, on an unrelated matter.  He has been in custody since this arrest and pled guilty to eight counts of fraud on June 17th, 2013, including the Oak Bay incident.
Chief Mark Fisher said: “This is a file that our detective section took an active interest in from the start.  In this instance the offender actually took the victim to the bank to get cash from her account before doing the work.  This type of exploitation of the elderly is despicable.  The investigators were pleased to see the offender receive a significant sentence in this instance.”
Mr. GORDON received an additional 18 month sentence, and was ordered to make restitution upon his eventual release, as a condition of the court imposed probation.
