Oak Bay Police Respond to Threat at Oak Bay High School

This morning at 10:30 a.m. Oak Bay Police were contacted by administrators at the Oak Bay High School regarding a threatening message that had been written on the door of a bathroom stall. Investigators attended the school and initiated an investigation. The writing on the stall in a female washroom indicated that someone was going to bring a gun to the school and that there would be a shooting at 2:00 pm. Police officers discussed the threat with school officials and out of an abundance of caution they decided that students would be dismissed from school when they returned from lunch just prior to 1:00 pm. All classes, practices and scheduled events are cancelled for the rest of the day.

Oak Bay Police officers remain at the school conducting their investigation. At this point in time there is no evidence of anyone having a firearm at the school.
