November 22, 2022 – Theft from Motor Vehicle File #2022-3625
Oak Bay Police Department responded to a theft from a vehicle in the 2000 block of Neil St. The victim’s vehicle had the rear window smashed and $300 worth of property stolen. The mischief and theft took place between 8:00pm and 9:30pm. Oak Bay Police remind residents to be vigilant about not leaving property inside their vehicles.
November 23, 2022 – Attempted Fraud File #2022-3632
On November 23, 2022, the Oak Bay Police received a call that someone had attempted to defraud them out of approximately $3000 by way of e-transfer. Fortunately, an employee at the bank alerted the bank account holder prior to the e-transfer being sent and stopped the payment from going through.
November 24, 2022 – Excessive Speeder Nabbed File #2022-3649
On November 24, 2022, at approximately 11:00pm the Oak Bay Police were conducting laser speed enforcement in the 3100 block of Cadboro Bay Rd, when a vehicle was found to be travelling at over 100km/hr in a 50km/hr speed zone. The driver was issued a ticket for excessive speed ($368.00), no insurance ($598.00) and the vehicle was impounded for a week.
November 24, 2022 – Break and Enter in Progress File #2022-3637
On November 24, at 0100 hrs Oak Bay Police Department officers were on regular patrol when they heard rummaging of items and noise coming from the municipal yard area. Officers located an individual who had broken into a secure area on the property. Police arrested the individual for Break and Enter and Theft. The suspect caused approximately $1000.00 in damage to the secure recycling facility. The accused, a 33-year-old man, was released and will appear in Court in January 2023.
November 24, 2022 – Mischief to motor vehicle File #2022-3646
On November 24, 2022, Oak Bay Police responded to a report of mischief to a motor vehicle in the 1900 block of Bee St. Sometime in the early morning hours an unknown culprit smashed off the side mirror of a vehicle, resulting in several hundred dollars in damage. A suspect has not yet been identified.
