The Oak Bay Police Department is pleased to report that the suspect male who entered an Oak Bay business carrying what appeared to be a handgun in a clear plastic bag has been located. The male admitted to officers that he had done what witnesses reported but meant no harm and further stated that the alleged gun was in fact just a toy cap gun. Officers spoke with another impartial witness who stated that the suspect male had shown him the gun earlier in the day and confirmed that it was a toy, though it certainly looked real from a distance.

When located, the suspect male was acting in a manner which caused officers to believe that he was in need of medical care. He was apprehended by officers and transported to hospital for treatment.
