On Monday, September 25th at approximately 7:15 pm an unidentified male entered an Oak Bay business in the 2100 block of Oak Bay Ave carrying a clear plastic bag which contained what appeared to be a small handgun. The male was casually holding the bag, not pointing it in any specific direction. After checking out merchandise within the business, the male departed the building. At no time were any gestures made that might have indicated a specific threat to anyone inside the store.
The male is described as follows;
Caucasian, 40 to 60 years old, slim build, around 5’8”, unshaven face, salt and pepper hair with a healing cut on his forehead and some scrapes on his cheek. He was wearing a blue baseball cap with a “Canada A” logo, blue jeans and a dark jacket over a white button up shirt. He was also carrying a royal blue and black backpack with the faded name “Scott” written on it.
There have been no other reports of similar incidents in the area.The Oak Bay Police responded immediately with a police dog and Forensic Ident Services. The investigation is ongoing and they are working with other police agencies to identify any similar occurrences, and a suspect.
