The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 89 calls for service this week.
Between April 26 and May 3, Police responded to nine “abandoned 911” calls. If you misdial, please do not hang up; stay on the line and let the 911 operators know that you are okay so they do not have to spend time trying to call you back.
Oak Bay had 2 theft from vehicle incidents. Both vehicles appeared to have been unlocked. Items stolen included sunglasses, spare change, and a wallet. The thefts occurred in the following locations:
- 2500 block Bowker Avenue: OB File: 2020-1328
- 2600 block Burdick Road: OB File: 2020-1340
On April 30, 2020, an Oak Bay Police member was conducting patrols at the University of Victoria. The officer observed two males on bicycles that appeared to be trying car door handles. Police attempted to speak with the males but they manage to evade police. Police re-attended the parking lot and found the vehicles secure. OB File: 2020-1346
On May 1, 2020, Oak Bay Police attended to a report of Mischief at 1701 Elgin Rd. An unknown person threw rocks at the church windows causing two windows to break. Police are still investigating this file. OB File: 2020-1360
On May 1, 2020, UVIC security reported a suspicious male to the Oak Bay Police. Officers attended and located a male who was found in possession of alcohol, a bicycle, and identification not in his name contrary to his numerous court conditions. He was also located in the municipality of Oak Bay contrary to his conditions and in possession of Methamphetamine. Male was arrested and have recommended charges. The male is known to police and is a chronic offender. This investigation is ongoing. OB File: 2020-1372
On May 2, 2020, Police attended the 2000 Block of Oak Bay Ave for a report of a stolen 1986 Suzuki motorcycle, bearing a BC license plate of Y83240. The motorcycle was stolen sometime over the seven days. OB File: 2020-1378
