On August 15th, police received a report of a break-in to a construction site in north Oak Bay. A number of tools were taken. The matter is still under investigation.
On August 15th, police were called to a business in central Oak Bay where a vehicle had driven into the side of the building. The vehicle and building suffered damage, but the driver was uninjured.
On August 18th, a large branch from an oak tree broke off and landed on a rental vehicle being driven by tourists in south Oak Bay. Fortunately, nobody was injured.
On August 18th, police were called to a break-in at a detached garage in central Oak Bay. The garage was under construction and the culprits took two bicycles and some tools.
On August 20th, police were called to a park in south Oak Bay where a vehicle had been driven through the hedge. Police had to help the driver out of the vehicle as it was lodged in such a way that the doors would not open. The investigating officer detected liquor on the driver’s breath. Investigation revealed the driver was impaired by alcohol. The Vehicle was impounded for 30 days and the driver was given a 90 day driving prohibition.
