During the week of August 23rd and August 30th, Oak Bay members responded to a couple of thefts of bicycles. One bicycle was left unlocked and the other had the lock cut. Both matters are still under investigation. Oak Bay police encourages the public to register their bicycles and to lock them away out of sight if possible. 2020-2630, 2020-2692
On the afternoon of August 25th, Oak Bay Police responded to the area of Willows Beach regarding a missing child. After a quick search police located the child in the area unharmed. 2020-2643
Oak Bay Police had received two separate complaints of Identity Fraud. Both victims reported that they had received a letter from a collection agency advising them that they owe money on overdue/unpaid Freedom Mobile accounts. Also, on Wednesday August 26th, Oak Bay Police responded to the TD Canada Trust located at 2000 Cadboro Bay Rd in regard to motor vehicle hit and run. A vehicle crashed into the bank and shattered a window. The vehicle was not located. This matter remains under investigation. 2020-2665.
On Thursday August 27th, the Oak Bay Police responded to the 2000 block of Penzance Rd for a mischief to a vehicle. An unknown suspect(s) smashed out a passenger window. The vehicle was not entered, and nothing was stolen. This matter is still under investigation. 2020-2669
On Friday August 28th, the Oak Bay Police received a complaint that an outboard motor had been stolen from the Royal Victoria Yacht club. This matter is still under investigation. 2020-2684
