Monday, August 24th – Some construction tools including a paint sprayer were stolen from a house under construction in South Oak Bay overnight. There are no suspects at this time.
Thursday, August 27th – An officer noted a vehicle exceeding the posted rate of speed on Beach Drive near the Victoria Golf Club. The member stopped the car with the intention of warning the driver. When the member spoke with the driver he noted an odor of liquor. The driver denied that he had been drinking but the roadside screening device revealed the opposite. A 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition was issued and the vehicle was towed.
Friday, August 28th – A resident in the 2100 block Kings Rd reported an attempt break and enter to a neighbor’s house. The witnesses observed a male walk away from the house and disappear. Members of the Oak Bay Police along with a police dog from VicPD attempted to locate the male unsuccessfully. The investigation revealed the male did not gain access to the house but he did break a window. The house is presently vacant.
At 2:30 am on Friday morning, an officer observed a vehicle on Haultain Street near Foul Bay roll through a stop sign. The vehicle was stopped and when the member spoke with the driver he noted slurred speech and a strong odor of liquor. The investigation, using a roadside screening device, revealed the driver had been consuming liquor and he was subsequently given a 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition. In addition, the driver’s vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Sunday, August 30th – A witness observed a vehicle swerving and crossing the center line on Oak Bay Avenue near Hampshire Road. Officers located the vehicle and the driver. A roadside screening device test revealed the driver had consumed liquor above the legal limit and was subsequently issued a 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition along with the vehicle being impounded for 30 days.
