On December 29th, a large quantity of copper pipe was reported stolen from the construction site at the new Oak Bay High School between the evening of December 24th and the morning of December 29th. Possible leads are being followed up by investigators.
On December 31st, police were called to a residence in south Oak Bay for a break and enter. Sometime overnight, an unknown person entered the residence and stole two laptops and an iPod.
On December 31st, Oak Bay Public Works reported at least five smashed light standard globes in the Uplands, and along Willows Beach.
On December 31st, police stopped a vehicle at a roadblock. The driver exhibits signs of alcohol consumption. Roadside breath tests resulted in two fails. The driver was given a 90 day Immediate Roadside Suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
On January 1st, police stopped a vehicle for speeding and the driver exhibited signs of alcohol consumption. A roadside breath test resulted in the driver being issued a 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days. While the officer was writing up this impaired, another vehicle was observed to fail to stop at a stop sign. This driver also showed signs of recent drug and alcohol consumption. Roadside breath tests resulted in two fails and the driver was issued a 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
On January 4th, police investigated a break-in to a garage and three thefts from vehicle in the King George Terrace / Barkley Terrace area. In these incidents the cars and the garage were left unlocked.
