Weekly Media Release Jan 5-11 2015

On January 6th, police attended the intersection of Nottingham and Dufferin for a two vehicle collision. A southbound vehicle on Nottingham was struck by a second vehicle that failed to stop at the stop sign on Dufferin and Nottingham. Airbags were deployed in both vehicles. The occupants of the first vehicle were transported to hospital. The driver of the second vehicle was issued a violation ticket for failing to stop at stop sign.

On January 8 a 58 year old Oak Bay man was reported missing after he failed to return home the previous evening. On January 10th a friend of the family located the man’s vehicle in the Koksilah River Provincial Park. A subsequent search of the area by RCMP and the Cowichan Search and Rescue located the body of a male on January 11a short distance from a campsite. RCMP positively identified the male as Dennis Morgan. The family has been notified and is requesting privacy. Foul play is not suspected.

On January 9th, police were called to a business in the 2000 block of Oak Bay Avenue to investigate an attempted break and enter. Unknown person(s) cut the lock off the door but an alarm in the business appeared to have scared them off as nothing was taken.
