Weekly Media Release Feb. 17 – Feb. 23, 2020

Oak Bay Police Responded to five thefts from vehicles this week.

  • On February 19th 2020, a resident in the 1000 block of Oliver Street advised Police that his vehicle had been broken into and some personal electronic items along with other property was stolen. The suspect smashed a window to gain access. Police were able to locate some of the property in the Victoria area and one suspect has been arrested. The investigation is still ongoing, and charges are being recommended (20-523).
  • On February 19th 2020, a resident in the 2300 block of Windsor Road advised Police that their vehicle had been entered sometime overnight and some personal items stolen. The suspect forced the driver door open and no suspects have been identified at this time (20-527).
  • On February 19th 2020, a resident in the 1800 block of Foul Bay Road advised Police that their vehicle had been entered sometime overnight and some personal items were stolen. The vehicle was unlocked. Police have not identified any suspects at this point (20-524)
  • On February 22nd 2020, two residents in the 900 block of Deal Street advised Police that their vehicles had been entered sometime overnight. One vehicle had nothing taken but contents had been rifled through while the other had some loose change taken (20-558, 20-563).

Police have not identified any suspects at this time and urge residents to keep vehicles locked and valuables out of sight.

On February 20th 2020, a resident in the 1500 block of Clive drive advised Police that sometime overnight his vehicle had been damaged by unknown person. It appeared an unknown person jumped on the bumper causing the fender to detach. No suspects have been identified. (20-542)

On February 23rd 2020, a resident advised police that their bright orange Radwagon electric bike had been stolen from the 1900 block of Bee Street. The resident advised that the bike had been locked outside shortly before 9pm. This investigation is still ongoing (20-568).
