On February 4th, police received a report from a resident of an apartment building that their bike was stolen from their storage locker. The investigation in this case is still ongoing.

2020-385
An unlocked vehicle parked at Camosun College parking lot was entered and a bag containing textbooks and a laptop were stolen. It is important to record all your serial numbers, make and model of items of value. Should these items become lost or stolen and then recovered, it allows police to return the items to their rightful owners.

On February 5th, police responded to a “pedestrian struck” near the Oak Bay Rec Center. The pedestrian sustained minor injuries and was driven to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the car remained at scene. The investigation is ongoing.

This past week, police received several reports of stolen bags containing refundable bottles/cans from Oak Bay residents. If you plan on returning your refundables, you should consider locking them up to prevent theft.

A stolen vehicle out of Saanich was recovered in the 2200 block of Windsor Rd. Vehicle was seized to be processed by the Forensic Ident Unit.

On February 7th, Oak Bay Police /Fire responded to Maquinna St for a report of a landslide. With the excess rains of late, soil erosion had occurred and part of the bank near the water had sluffed away. No injuries were reported.

On February 8th, a boat motor reported stolen on January 27th from a boat anchored near the 3200 block of Beach Drive was recovered by police. Police
attended to a complaint of a boat moored at the Oak Bay Marina without a permit. During a vessel safety inspection conducted under the Canada Shipping Act, the outboard motor was examined and determine to be stolen. We will be recommending a charge of possession of stolen property and the boat operator has been banned from mooring his boat at the Oak Bay Marina and was issued a violation ticket for not having his operators permit on him.
