On Tuesday, August 3rd, patrol members conducted a roadblock on Foul Bay Road. A 2020 white Chevrolet truck approached the roadblock southbound on Foul Bay Road. The patrol member smelled liquor from the 28-year old male driver’s breath. An approved screening device was administered which showed a “WARN” reading. The driver received a 3-day driving prohibition and his vehicle was towed from the scene.

On Wednesday, August 4th, the Oak Bay Police responded to a two vehicle MVI at Beach Drive and Beresford Place. The offending driver, who was driving a 2001 grey Acura, rear-ended a 2021 black Mitsubishi RVR who was stopped at a crosswalk to allow a pedestrian to cross the roadway. There were no injuries however, the driver of the Acura was served a violation ticket for “Following too Closely”, Section 162 (1) of the Motor Vehicle Act with a fine of $109.00.

On Sunday, August 8th, a patrol member was conducting radar enforcement on Cedar Hill Cross Road and observed a vehicle travelling eastbound at a high rate of speed. The radar showed a reading of 97 km/hr in a posted 50 km/hr zone. A traffic stop was initiated with a grey 2021 Ford Ranger. The 21-year-old male driver was issued a violation ticket for excessive speed with a prescribed fine of $368.00 and a vehicle impoundment for seven days.

On Sunday, August 8th, the Oak Bay Police Department received information from an off-duty police officer that he observed an adult male who was at Willows Beach and in breach of his release conditions. The 36 year old male was on court ordered conditions not to attend a beach in B.C., and not to be in a public swimming area where children under the age of 16 may be present. The off-duty officer observed the male watching children on the beach. Upon police presence, the 36-year-old male immediately departed the area and was located a few blocks away where he was arrested for beaching his conditions and held in custody for morning court.
