The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 80 calls for service this week.
THEFT FROM VEHICLE
On August 5, 2025, members of the Oak Bay Police Department responded to a report of theft from a vehicle in the area of Haultain Street. Stolen items included two pairs of designer sunglasses, a tent, and $180.00 in cash.
Later that day, police received a separate report from another complainant who discovered two shopping carts full of what appeared to be stolen items in the possession of unknown individuals at a park in Saanich. OBPD officers attended the scene, located the suspects, and arrested them for possession of stolen property. The recovered items were returned to the rightful owner and items from the initial theft investigation in Oak Bay were recovered with the exception of one pair of the designer sunglasses. The Saanich Police Department is continuing the investigation. (File 25-2164/2165)
INDECENT ACT
On August 6, 2025, at 6:16 p.m., OBPD officers responded to Trafalgar Park following a report of an indecent act. A female complainant advised that earlier that day at approximately 2:30 p.m., she witnessed a male with his shorts pulled down to his ankles engaged in an indecent act. The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, approximately 30–40 years old, with a large belly. This investigation remains ongoing. (File 25-2181)
