During this time period, the Oak Bay Police Department responded to 54 calls for service.
Dec 20th, 2022 – OB22-3893 Theft of Vehicle/Theft from Autos
On the 20th of December 2022 at 10:00 am Police Officers attended the 2500 block of Lansdowne Rd for a report of a stolen vehicle. The complainant reported their 1998 White Jeep Cherokee had been parked overnight in the driveway and discovered it had been stolen in the morning.
Other calls were also received from neighbouring residences indicating their vehicles had been broken into overnight. The lone suspect (on CCTV surveillance) was observed wearing a black jacket with the hood up and could not be identified.
The stolen vehicle was recovered on the 22nd of December 2022 in Douglas Street area of Victoria by the Victoria Police Department, undamaged and was returned to the registered owner.
Dec 20th, 2022 – OB22-3902 Injured Man
On the 20th of December at 10:00 pm, Oak Bay Police Officers responded to an area in south Oak Bay to assist BC Ambulance Service with a man suspected of harming himself. Upon arrival, officers located the injured man. Oak Bay Police officers rendered life saving interventions by applying a tourniquet near the injured area of the man and assisted BC Ambulance Service with transport of the man to hospital for medical treatment and mental health support.
The Oak Bay Police Department members have recently received training on advanced life saving interventions designed to enhance their safety as well as that of the public. Great work by OBPD “B” Platoon Members.
Dec 23rd, 2022 – OB22-3919 Found Property
On the 23rd of December, a wallet was turned into the Oak Bay Police Department that was found in a snowbank. Officers investigated and were able to locate the rightful owner of the wallet which was returned.
Oak Bay Police wish to thank the community members who assisted in returning this lost property back to its owner.
Dec 25th, 2022 – OB22-3933 Traffic Incident
On the 25th of December, Oak Bay Police conducted speeding enforcement near Beach Drive and Newport Avenue. A brown BMW was observed travelling southbound on Beach Drive doing 70 km/h in the posted 40km/h zone and proceeded to pass another vehicle in the oncoming lane.
A violation ticket for speeding was issued for the North Saanich resident.
