During this week the Oak Bay Police Department responded to 59 calls for service.
December 13, 2022. Assist General Public: 2022-3827
Police were called to an address on Oak Bay Avenue for the report of an elderly female trying to make her way into a building to get out of the cold. Police attended and assisted the elderly woman who suffered from dementia and was clearly lost. Police were able to identify her and provide her with a ride to her residence where her daughter took over care.
December 13, 2022. Breach of Bail Condition: 2022-3833
On December 13, 2022, The Oak Bay Police Department received a request from the Parole Office about a woman who was on a 24-hour house arrest by a court-imposed condition. The woman was to remain in her residence in Victoria however her ankle monitor was “pinging” on Oak Bay Avenue and Oliver St. Officers attended the area and located the woman out walking. The woman was identified and arrested for breaching her court-imposed conditions. Under the request of the probation office, the female was transported to cells where she underwent a bail hearing where she will most likely complete her remaining sentence time in custody.
December 14, 2022. Mischief/ Intoxicated in a Public Place: 2022-3846
On December 14, 2022, in the middle of the afternoon, the Oak Bay Police were called to check on the well being of a local resident who was on the walkway beside the Municipal Hall. The man was highly intoxicated from alcohol and was yelling obscenities at passersby. Police attended and the man was arrested and transported to cells for being intoxicated in a public place. Once sober and able to care for himself, the man was released from custody and was issued a violation ticket under the Liquor Control and Licencing Act with a fine of amount $115.00.
Police would like to remind motorists, with the festive season upon us, to drink responsibly and find alternate modes of transportation after consuming alcohol. Officers will be out conducting impaired checks.
