The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 98 calls for service this week.

Mischief Incident – July 14

Oak Bay Police responded to a mischief report in the 1800 block of Christie Way, where a large refrigerator was left blocking a home’s front door with graffiti referencing a countdown and inappropriate imagery. The incident may be linked to a group of local teenagers reportedly involved in pranks. While the act may have been intended as a joke, police remind the public that such behaviour can have serious consequences and may constitute a criminal offence. The matter has been referred to the school liaison officer for further investigation and follow-up. (File #: OB2025-1909)

Insurance Violation – July 17, 9:45 AM

While conducting traffic patrols in the 400 block of Beach Drive, Oak Bay Police stopped a vehicle found to be unregistered. The driver was unable to produce valid insurance documentation.

    • Fail to Produce Out-of-Province Registration – S. 21(7)(c) MVA – $109
    • No Insurance – S. 24(3)(b) MVA – $598
      The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Theft of Bicycle – July 17

A report was received regarding the theft of a secured electric bicycle from the 2200 block of Oak Bay Avenue.

  • Value: Approximately $3,500

Theft of Bicycle – July 18

A second bicycle theft was reported from the same block. The bicycle had been secured with a cable lock that was defeated.

Theft of Bicycle – July 19

A third bicycle theft was reported from the 1400 block of Monterey Avenue. The bicycle had been locked at the location since July 17.
