Vehicle Theft – Eastdowne Road
A green Toyota Tacoma was stolen twice from a residence in the 2500 block of Eastdowne Road. The first incident occurred overnight between July 6 and 7, when the unlocked vehicle was entered and a spare key was taken. The owner later discovered the vehicle had been moved and returned. On July 8 at 11:19 p.m., the same vehicle was stolen again. OBPD notified neighbouring police jurisdictions, and the Integrated Canine Service (ICS) located the vehicle in Saanich and initiated a traffic stop. With assistance from Saanich Police, an 18-year-old male driver was taken into custody and later released by OBPD on an Undertaking with conditions. The matter remains under investigation. Theft from Auto
On July 9, a resident in the 2800 block of Foul Bay Road reported that tools valued at approximately $800 were stolen overnight from an unlocked vehicle. The tools were recovered later that evening in the 2000 block of Newton Street. (File 2025-1853)
On July 10, a resident in the 2000 block of Granite Street reported that their vehicle window had been smashed overnight. A backpack, documents, and a water bottle were stolen. (File 2025-1858)
Collision
On July 11, shortly after 2:00 p.m., Oak Bay Police, Oak Bay Fire, and BC Ambulance responded to a rollover collision at the intersection of Beach Drive and Bowker Avenue. A Tesla failed to stop at a stop sign and struck a Mitsubishi, causing it to flip onto its roof. Both vehicles sustained significant damage and were towed. The Mitsubishi driver was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries; the Tesla driver was uninjured and issued a violation ticket for failing to obey a stop sign under the Motor Vehicle Act.
