The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 73 calls for service this week.

CANNABIS VIOLATION TICKET ISSUED

On July 27, 2026, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Oak Bay Police responded to Trafalgar Park after receiving a report of cannabis use in a parked vehicle.

An officer located the vehicle with its engine running and noted the smell of cannabis coming from inside. The occupant told police they were visiting from Ontario, were not aware of local rules and did not intend to drive.

The individual was issued a $230 violation ticket under section 63(1) of British Columbia’s Cannabis Control and Licensing Act for smoking or holding cannabis in an outdoor public place. (File 2026-2248)

PUBLIC INTOXICATION

On July 29, 2026, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Oak Bay Police received several reports of an intoxicated person yelling at children, knocking over an e-bike and repeatedly falling in the roadway.

Officers attended and located the individual, who showed signs of intoxication and was unable to safely care for themselves.

The individual was arrested for being intoxicated in a public place and was held in custody until sober. A violation ticket was issued under section 74(1) of British Columbia’s Liquor Control and Licensing Act. (File 2026-2264)

TWO-VEHICLE COLLISION

On August 1, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m., Oak Bay Police responded to a two-vehicle collision near Cadboro Bay Road and Upper Terrace Road.

Police learned that one driver was travelling southbound on Cadboro Bay Road when another vehicle entered the intersection from Upper Terrace Road.

One driver reported a headache after the collision and was transported to hospital by Emergency Health Services. Both vehicles were damaged and towed from the scene.

The collision remains under investigation. (File 2026-2296)
