The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 89 calls for service this past week.
2023-1858 Theft of Vehicle
On July 1st, the Oak Bay Police Department responded to a report of a theft of a vehicle in the 2700 block of Foul Bay Rd. The owner reported their gray 2001 Honda Accord, had been stolen from their driveway sometime over the last two days. Officers conducted a neighbourhood canvass for video and possible witnesses with negative results. On July 4, 2023, Saanich Police located the vehicle in their area. The vehicle was returned to the registered owner. A charge of possession of stolen property is being considered against the driver, a 40-year-old Saanich man, who was the lone occupant of the stolen vehicle.
2023-1875 Drive with no insurance
On July 3rd, an officer of the Oak Bay Police was in the area of 3800 Finnerty Rd conducting traffic enforcement when they observed a vehicle approaching them. A check on the status of the vehicle determined the vehicle had not been insured since February 2023. The vehicle was stopped, and the registered owner of the vehicle was issued a violation ticket for driving without insurance and issued a $598.00 fine.
