On Wednesday, June 9th, the Oak Bay Police Department received a report of the theft of an inflatable boat report from the Oak Bay Marina. The boat was described as a grey/white 10- foot inflatable Walker Bay boat that did not have a motor attached to it. The police received a report the week prior of a similar boat which was abandoned on the shore close to the Oak Bay Beach Hotel. The owner of the boat attended the area and confirmed that it was his boat.

On Saturday, June 12th the Oak Bay Police Department received an overnight report of a theft from a motor vehicle in the 1700 block of Lulie Street. The suspect entered the unlocked vehicle and stole the owner’s wallet. A bank card that had been in the wallet was used fraudulently at a downtown convenience store. The file is under investigation to identify the suspect.

On Sunday, June 13th, a patrol member was conducting radar enforcement in the 2700 block of Foul Bay Road. A vehicle was stopped for speeding and the officer noted signs of liquor indicia from the 35 year old male driver. An approved screening device was administered, and the driver blew a “FAIL” on both tests. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and a 30-day vehicle impoundment. The 2016 blue Subaru Forrester was towed from the scene and the officer issued a violation ticket for speeding with a fine of $196.00.

On Sunday, June 13th, the Oak Bay Police Department responded to an overnight break and enter in the 2200 block of Cadboro Bay Road. The security guard at the commercial complex heard someone cutting metal and when police attended the 34 year old male suspect was located in the basement. The suspect was in possession of a wrench and pipe and police noted a saw in close proximity to the individual. The area where the suspect came out from was missing a section of copper piping. The suspect was released on an Undertaking with conditions not to attend the building, not to possess break and enter tools and to report to a bail supervisor. The suspect is also required to attend court at a later date.
