Weekly Media Release for Mar. 17 – Mar. 23, 2025

The Oak Bay Police Department responded to 61 calls for service this week.

During this week, Oak Bay Police issued 15 violations tickets for various moving offences under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Excessive Speed

On the evening of March 17, 2025, an Oak Bay Officer was conducting speed enforcement on Henderson Road, just north of Kendal Ave. The officer observed a black BMW 525I travelling at a high rate of speed in a posted 40 Km/h zone. Speed was then confirmed by way of a calibrated handheld radar travelling at a speed of 94 km/h. The New Brunswick driver was issued a fine for excessive speeding under Section 146(1) of the MVA with a fine amount of $368. The vehicle was also impounded for a period of seven days. (File 25-663)

Police Camp

Oak Bay Police Department participated with the Greater Victoria Police Foundation Police Camp where approximately fifty youth from grades 10,11 & 12 participated in the seven-day long camp. Several additional Oak Bay Officers also attended, donating their time to assist with various components of the training to provide the youth with the most realistic and fulfilling experience.
